Mazda says the US-spec all-new CX-5 has earned the IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ award. The company also reports that nine Mazda models hold an IIHS award and that the new CX-5 received five-star ratings from Euro NCAP and ANCAP.

The result is not simply about counting driver-assistance features. Independent ratings examine crash protection, collision-avoidance performance and headlight quality, giving buyers a wider reference point than a marketing equipment list.

For rental and corporate fleets, safety also has an operational dimension: clearer customer communication, lower exposure to avoidable risk and stronger confidence in the model. Ratings still need to be checked for the exact market specification and trim being considered.

Compare the rental conditions

CarMisto's practical perspective: verify the actual year, equipment and car condition when renting. A newer model's award does not replace inspecting an older vehicle or checking its insurance arrangement.
